Pre-K Updates!

Parents,

We enjoyed our "Rhyme Time" unit about nursery rhymes! Our friends have been getting better and better at identifying rhyming words.

This week, we began our author study on Mo Willems! Over the next few weeks, we are spotlighting this great author and illustrator and his hilarious books. We are also working on identifying uppercase and lowercase letters and the sounds they make, identifying and creating patterns, telling what number comes before and after a number, number lines, and writing our names using upper and lowercase letters.

Vocabulary
Laundromat     block (like in a city)   bawl

Home extensions:

-Visit the local library and check out books written by Mo Willems. Identify the main character, setting (if you can!), the problem, the solution, and how the characters felt at different parts of the story

-Writing your first name using upper and lowercase letters (Kellie VS KELLIE)

-Check out these fun games! http://www.pigeonpresents.com/fun.aspx

-Have your child help with the laundry. Have them sort the clothes, measure the detergent, and identify letters and words on the machine.

-Bake cookies! Discuss what a recipe is. Have your child measure each ingredient.

-Have your child illustrate a book! Fold a few sheets of paper together and staple. Have your child draw pictures and dictate a story to you (you write the words). Bonus points for sending it to school to share! :)
